The sacrament of Confirmation is “necessary for the completion of baptismal grace” (CCC 1285). The confirmed receive a fuller outpouring of the gift of the Holy Spirit, and are more fully incorporated into Christ and the Church, which strengthens the Christian with the grace in order to properly live out the Catholic Faith in the womb of the Church. Therefore the sacrament of Confirmation is also referred to as the sacrament of maturity. Along with Eucharist received after Baptism, Confirmation completes full initiation into the Christian faith and the Church.
